Friday Focus Morning Show – November 3

Why is Cochise County backing the Villages at Vigneto housing development in Benson? County Administrator Ed Gilligan came by the studio to explain why he and the Board of Supervisors strongly support the project. He also talked about the organization’s ongoing pension liability and plans to manage it, how the county wants to help the Willcox wine industry, and how the move by Bisbee City Hall into the county complex is working out.

Second hour – County Administrator

Topics of discussion in the first hour included the conclusion of the Bisbee bag ban challenge, attendance records of City of Sierra Vista council members, the issue of safety at Carr Canyon falls, and the usefulness of Sierra Vista city commissions, which are currently looking to fill a number of vacancies.

First Hour – Community News

Finally, we talked to Sheila Rupert, a case manager at the Forgach House, and Mitze Kirmse, a long time volunteer and organizer of an annual variety show which raises money for the non-profit – around $250,000 in 22 years. We also had a visit from Christine Smythe, of Team Red, White and Blue, an organization that helps veterans transition into the community. Thanks to SSVEC for sponsoring this hour.
